Interface Management Implementation Guide (IMIGe)

Written by Ascertra | January 22, 2015

As your projects grow in complexity and geographic locations, more interfaces are created between project stakeholders. And proper management of interfaces is vital to successful delivery of projects. The Interface Management Implementation Guideline (IMIGe), developed by the Interface Management Research Team at the Construction Industry Institute (CII), is a useful guideline that can help you throughout your interface management (IM) implementation process. IMIGe includes the four following tools:

Project Interface Risk-Impact (PIRI) Matrix

PIRI is a high-level decision-making tool that enables you to identify the extent of interface management implementation you will need within your organization and/or project, given various degrees of project interface risk and complexity level, as well as the business impact of the project on your organization.

Interface Management Maturity Model

The Interface Management Maturity model represents the current state of your organization’s IM program, and provides a step-wise process for moving your IM program to a desired state.

Interface Complexity Assessment Tool (ICAT)

ICAT helps you measure the complexity of interfaces between every pair of stakeholders. It can be used to justify the need for IM at the project level and rank your interfaces with respect to Interface Influencing Factors (IIFs).

Interface Management Implementation Roadmap

The Interface Implementation Roadmap describes the tasks required for successful interface management implementation throughout your project life cycle.
